Here we are with another blog on the series “KNOW OUR WORLD”. In this blog, we will talk about a country, globally famous for its popular tourist destination because of its beautiful beaches, it’s culture, amazing food (like pho), and friendly people, i.e., Vietnam.

It is also famous for the Vietnam War, motorbikes (86% of households have one), Vietnamese coffee, floating markets and rice terraces.

Vietnam is a part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN). It is a premier hub for developments and has a perfect amalgamation between the modern and traditional world. Its covering 331,699 square kilometers, with a population of over 96 million inhabitants, making it the world’s sixteenth-most populous country.

Red symbolizes the bloodshed and revolutionary struggle. The star represents the five main classes in Vietnamese society — workers, peasants, soldiers, intellectuals, and businessmen

  • Vietnam is the second largest producer of Coffee in the world.
  • Vietnam is referred to as ‘The King of Cashews’. As the world’s largest exporter of cashew nuts, Vietnam produces more than 55% of the global supply and makes well over two billion dollars a year from the industry.
  • Vietnam is one of the cheapest countries in the world to get a tailor-made outfit.
  • Vietnamese New Year is known as Tet. It’s the largest Vietnamese festival and one of the most popular festivals in Southeast Asia. Over 90 million people celebrate Tet, which is usually held on the same day as Chinese New Year.
  • Sepak Takraw is a traditional sport played in Vietnam. It’s also known as ‘kick volleyball’.
  • Vietnam is home to one of the world’s most impressive waterfalls. Ban Gioc Waterfall is Vietnam’s widest waterfall and one of the least visited natural wonders in the country. It is fed by the Quay Son River which marks the border between Vietnam and China.
