1. Arvind Kejrival, the Chief Minister of Delhi launched the ‘Delhi Startup Policy’.

A) The objective is to promote entrepreneurship in Delhi by creating an enabling ecosystem for people to launch startups. The government wants to make Delhi the “startup destination of the world”.

B) The government will provide financial assistance to startups through collateral-free loans, financial parts of rent, and employee salaries. For example, the government will pay up to 50% of the rental cost of a startup office.

2. Recently, a new draft of the National Youth Policy (NYP) has been prepared by the central government of India.

A) A ten-year vision for the development of youth has been envisioned by this draft policy that India is looking to achieve by the year 2030.

B) This policy has been aligned with the country’s Sustainable Development Goals and it also looks to unlock the potential of the country’s youth.

3. The Politics of Disinformation report has been released by the Future of India Foundation.

A) According to the report, the huge amount of disinformation floating around on the social media platforms is harming the youths in India. 

B) The report has also observed that most misinformation can be linked to narratives that have been propagated by business and political entities.

4. Soil on the Moon has the potential to generate oxygen and fuel.

A) Lunar soil contains active compounds that can convert carbon dioxide into oxygen and fuels.

B) Mainly, the system uses lunar soil to electrolyze water extracted from the moon and in astronauts’ breathing exhaust into oxygen and hydrogen powered by sunlight. The carbon dioxide exhaled by moon inhabitants is also collected and combined with hydrogen from water electrolysis during a hydrogenation process catalyzed by lunar soil.

5. May 9 is celebrated as “Victory Day” in Russia.

A) To commemorate the Soviet Union’s role in defeating Nazi Germany in World War II. First time celebrated in 1965 under Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev.

B) Victory Day is marked by a military parade in Moscow, and Russian leaders traditionally stand on the tomb of Vladimir Lenin in Red Square to observe it.

C) Operation Barbarossa is the code name for the German invasion of the Soviet Union.

6. Recently, the Union Health Minister released National Family Health Survey (NFHS)-5 data.

A) Total Fertility Rate (TFR) is the average number of children that would be born to a woman if she were to live to the end of her child-bearing years and give birth to children in alignment with the prevailing age-specific fertility rates.

B) Total Fertility Rates have declined from 2.2 (NHFS-4) to 2.0 (NFHS-5) at the national level.

7. The Punjab government recently announced incentives for farmers opting for Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR).

A) In the Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) technique, the seeds are sown directly in the field rather than transplanting the seedlings. A tractor-powered machine is used to drill the seeds into the soil. There is no nursery preparation.

B) According to an analysis by the Punjab Agriculture University (PAU), the DSR technique can help save 15% to 20% of water. In Punjab, this technique can save 810 to 1,080 billion liters of water every year if the entire rice crop is brought under the DSR technique.

8. Cynthia Rosenzweig, NASA’s head of the Climate Impacts Group and a senior research scientist at Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) received this year’s World Food Prize.

A) The World Food Prize is an award that is given with the aim of recognizing the achievements of individuals from across the world who have helped in the development of humans by improving the quantity, quality, or availability of food across the world.

B) This award was conceived by Norman Borlaug, a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. In 1986, this prize was established with the support of General Foods. The first prize was awarded in the year 1987.
