1. GeM and SEWA signed a MoU to engage women-led enterprises as vendors and service providers.

A) Government e-Marketplace [GeM] and Self-Employed Mahila Sangh [SEWA] signed a Memorandum of Understanding [MoU] for capacity building of women led micro and small enterprises, women entrepreneurs, unions, cooperatives .

B) GeM will train SEWA members to assist and enable women-led micro and small enterprises, women entrepreneurs, SHGs among others, with GeM processes related to seller registration and on-boarding on the platform, upload/ update of product/ service catalogues.

2. Nikhat Zareen wins gold in 52 kg category at Women’s World Boxing Championships.

A) Nikhat Zareen landed a gold medal as the Indian boxer defeated Jutamas Jitpong of Thailand 5-0 in the 52kg final of the Women’s World Boxing Championships.

B) Nikhat became the only fifth Indian woman to secure gold medal at the World Boxing Championships after record six-time champion Mary Kom (2002, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2018), Sarita Devi (2006), Jenny RL (2006) and Lekha KC (2006).

3. AIIMS Delhi removes charges for lab tests, X-rays, and other investigations.

A) In a move that will bring a huge respite to patients from the economically weaker sections, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) issued an order removing all charges for lab tests, X-rays and other investigations in the hospital, the hospital administration said.

B) The order was issued by AIIMS’s medical superintendent Dr DK Sharma.

C)  Currently, the user charges or lab charges amounted to around ₹300.

4. Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft finally placed into orbit.

A) Boeing Co and NASA launched the long-delayed Starliner space capsule for a planned rendezvous with the International Space Station.

B) The United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket launched the craft, without crew, from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

5. WHO clears China’s CanSino Covid vaccine for emergency use.

A) The UN health agency said the single-dose CanSino vaccine was found to be about 92% effective against severe Covid-19 and 64% effective in preventing people from getting symptoms of the disease

B) Overall, this is the 11th vaccine to be authorised by the WHO for use against Covid-19.

6. Dr S. Jaishankar calls for zero tolerance to cross-border terrorism at BRICS meet.

A) External affairs minister S Jaishankar said BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) must display zero tolerance towards terrorism, especially cross-border terrorism. 

B) He said that BRICS has repeatedly affirmed respect for sovereign equality, territorial integrity and international law.

7. Delhi court  has convicted separatist leader Yasin Malik in terror funding case.

A) Yasin Malik, a separatist leader from Jammu and Kashmir, was convicted by a National Investigation Agency court in Delhi in a case related to terror funding.

B) The court also formally framed charges against other separatist leaders who are accused in the case, including Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karate.

8. Union  IT minister ‘successfully’ makes first 5G call under ‘Aatmanirbhar 5G’ initiative.

A) Union IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw made the first 5G call on a trial network set up at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. “Aatmanirbhar 5G. Successfully tested 5G call. 

B) Spectrum auctions will be conducted in 2022 to facilitate rollout of 5G mobile services within 2022-23 by private telecom providers. A scheme for design-led manufacturing will be launched to build a strong ecosystem for 5G as part of the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) scheme.
