1) Women farmers in the Hill state of Himachal Pradesh gradually turning to Non-chemical low cost “Natural Farming”.

A) The State’s Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Yojana launched in 2018 is promoting Zero budget Natural Farming.

B) ZBNF is a set of farming methods and also a grassroots peasant movement.

C) Zero Budget means without using any credit and without spending any money on Purchased inputs.

2) The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment recommends the National Fund to Control Drug Abuse be used to carry out De addiction programmes.

A) Ministry states the fund has a nominal corpus of 23 crores and is being used only for policing activities.

B) The fund was created in 1989 in accordance with the provision of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) ACT, 1985.

4) Saudi Arabia launches the “National Infrastructure Fund” to invest 200 billion Riyals in projects.

A) The Fund will invest in Water, transportation, energy, education, health, digital infrastructure and communication.

B) The fund will finance privatized infrastructure projects as well as create investment opportunities for these projects.

C) It will also contribute to the development of GDP and will help in creating job opportunities.

5) Netherlands to post a Liaison Officer at Indian Navy’s Information Fusion Centre for Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR).

A) It will be done for maritime domain awareness and information sharing.

B) The IFC has been established at the Navy’s Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) in Gurugram.

C) The IFC will serve countries that have White Shipping Information Exchange agreements with India.

6) China enacts a national law on “protection and exploitation” of the country’s land border areas.

A) Timing of the new border law is significant as China continues to be at loggerheads with India across LAC.

B) Aim is to maintain National Security and Manage border related matters at the legal levels.

C) The law also provides a legal framework for hard border closures.

7) October 24 marked as World Polio Day.

A) It is marked in celebration of the birth of Jonas Salk, The American Researcher who developed the first polio vaccine in 1955.

B) Poliovirus was first isolated in 1990 by Karl Landsteiner and Erwin Popper.

C) Poliovirus causes a disabling and life threatening disease called Poliomyelitis.
