1. Recently, ISRO and IISc experts developed ‘space bricks’ for Mars.

A) A team from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and space agency Isro has developed a scalable technique to make ‘space bricks’ using Martian Simulant Soil (MSS).

B) The team led by Alok Kumar, associate professor at IISc’s mechanical engineering department, demonstrated Microbial Induced Calcite Precipitation (MICP).

2. On 16th April 2022, the 2022 edition of the Invictus Games started in The Hague, Netherlands.

A) It is an international sporting competition that is similar to the Paralympics but is meant for the injured, wounded, and sick military war veterans and service personnel.

B) The Invictus Games were created by Harry, Duke of Sussex after he saw the Warrior Games in the United States in 2013 and wanted to start something similar in London.

3. Crypto lender Nexo has collaborated with Mastercard to launch the world’s first “crypto-backed” payment card.

A) This launch has signalled the move by financial and crypto networks to collaborate as digital assets are becoming more mainstream.

B) The crypto-backed credit card can be used at 92 million merchants across the world wherever Mastercard is accepted.

4. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said that NBFCs will now have to disclose their exposure to sensitive sectors, including real estate, loans against shares and securitised mortgages.

A) The new RBI also prohibits mid-layer and upper layer NBFCs from lending more than Rs 5 crore to directors, CEO or relatives of directors.

B) Non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) cannot lend to any company in which their directors or relatives are interested as a partner, manager, employee, or guarantor.

5. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in its ‘State of the economy’ report cautioned that the surging commodity prices are causing inflation risks, especially through the surging of imports.

A) The inflation in food and beverages rose to 7.5 per cent in March from 5.9 per cent in February was the main driver of retail inflation.

B) According to the report of the RBI, the near-term global outlook appears to be quite grim as it has been caught up in a whirlpool of geopolitical risks that has rapidly materialized, the fast pace of the normalization of the monetary policy, along with strained supply chains.

6. The WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine (GCTM) in Jamnagar, Gujarat has the world’s first and only global outpost centre for traditional medicine.

A) PM Modi laid the foundation stone on 19th April 2022.

B) The first Ayurvedic University that was established in the world was in Jamnagar.

C) The new Centre will be focusing on innovation, data, and sustainability and will be optimizing the use of traditional medicine.

7. The world’s highest tunnel will be constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at Shinku La Pass at 16,580 feet.

A) This tunnel will be connecting Himachal Pradesh to Ladakh.

B) This tunnel will help in boosting the economy of the Zanskar Valley as the travel time between Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh will be reduced after this tunnel is opened.

8. The National Security Council Secretariat has organised the National Cyber Security Incident Response Exercise (NCX India).

A) Over 140 officials will be provided training through training sessions and strategic exercises.

B) This exercise is being conducted due to the recent incidents of power grid hackings in Ladakh and Twitter handles of various ministries being hacked.

9. The Union home ministry appointed Naresh Kumar as the new chief secretary of Delhi.

A) He is a 1987 batch AGMUT cadre Indian Administrative Services officer.

B) He has served in several important positions in Delhi as well as in the Centre before he was sent to Arunachal Pradesh as chief secretary.

10. According to the International Monetary Fund, India’s economy is estimated to grow by 8.2 per cent.

A) In its latest World Economic Outlook (WEO) report, the IMF forecast India’s economy to grow by 6.9 per cent in 2023-24.

B) India’s latest GDP growth forecast is still higher than the RBI’s estimate of 7.2 per cent for 2022-23.
