Hello Readers!

In today’s blog we will discuss the ATL Space Challenge 2021. Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) successfully launched the ATL Space Challenge 2021 for all school students across the country.

The ATL Space Challenge 2021 aligns with World Space Week 2021, which is held every year from the 4th to the 10th of October to honour the accomplishments of space science and technology.

ATL Space Challenge 2021: What is the challenge about?

The purpose of the challenge is to educate and engage young innovators from throughout the country in developing new, efficient, and creative solutions for specific, real-world difficulties in the space sector, as well as to generate solutions that address the key problem areas of the challenge.

The ATL Space Challenge 2021 is a one-of-a-kind challenge for school students across India that aligns with this year’s theme of celebrating 75 years of India’s independence as “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,” a government-sponsored initiative to commemorate and celebrate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture, and achievements.

The Space Challenge is ideally aligned with the Mahotsav’s goal of supporting young innovators and exposing them to emerging technologies and abilities.

The challenge is open to all students, mentors, and instructors in schools around the country, not just those affiliated with ATL laboratories, but non ATL schools as well.

This aims to ensure that students from grades 6 to 12 have access to an open platform where they can develop and empower themselves to address problems related to digital age space technology.

ATL Space Challenge 2021: Themes

Each team participating in the challenge needs to select one problem which falls under one of these categories given below:

  • Explore Space: gaming technology, app development, robotics
  • Reach Space: 3D technology, artificial intelligence or machine learning in space, space apps
  • Inhabit Space: 3D technology, healthcare, AI/ML in space
  • Leverage Space: geospatial technology, drone Technology, visualize data

ATL Space Challenge 2021: Eligibility

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM)

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is the Indian government’s flagship project to create a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Its goal is to design new programmes and policies to stimulate innovation in many sectors of the economy. It also aims to provide a platform and collaboration opportunities for various stakeholders, raise awareness, and establish an umbrella organisation to manage the country’s innovation ecosystem.

Initiatives taken

Atal Tinkering Labs: Developing a problem-solving mindset across Indian schools.

Atal Incubation Centers: foster world-class startups and also introducing a new dimension to the incubator model.

Atal New India Challenges: include fostering product innovation and aligning it with the demands of diverse industries.

Mentor India Campaign: To support all of the mission’s efforts, a national mentor network will be established in collaboration with the public sector, corporations, and institutions.

Atal Community Innovation Center: It fosters community-centered innovation and ideas in unserved/underserved areas of the country, such as Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
